In 2019, I was searching online to find somewhere to donate old music books from my school days. I stumbled upon The Music Enlightenment Project, a community-based initiative in Johannesburg. After visiting their practice room in Braamfontein, I was so impressed with the passion and dedication exhibited by the students and conductor, that I returned the next day to capture some images for their website.

The project's vision is to enrich the lives of children and communities through the practice, performance and experience of music. Since its inception in 2009, the project has reached over 1 500 participants across Johannesburg.
