Exploring the Cosmos with Angela
"When I approach a canvas, I never know what I’m going to paint. I’m often as surprised as the person standing next to me. I just let it flow through me and the canvas paints itself. I’m just a vehicle.” - Peter Max

I just love how ideas evolve and take on a life of their own at times.
Angie and I had wanted to create a portrait series together for a while. We decided to venture into the fields of cosmos flowers that bloom for three weeks a year at Delta Park.
It was a beautiful scene, but as soon as we started shooting, we were both so much more drawn to the long, dry grass around the edge of the fields of flowers.
Angie changed from a light, summer dress, into this deep, forest green velvet dress, and the shoot took on a life of its own.

The images we created felt so much more authentic to Angie's personality than our original vision.
This is what I love about creativity - you think the ideas are your own, but really, they are these fluctuating, ever-evolving beings that just flow through you.
Sometimes it can be difficult to let go of the initial vision, but when you just let the creativity flow, something even more magical can be created.
